Ira Winderman emphasized that the Heat's current predicament stems from a collective expectation that others should resolve issues. Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins excel in defensive prowess, while Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo are formidable defensive forces. Yet, there's an undercurrent of complacency, as if the responsibility of defense is delegated to others. Basketball necessitates collective defense, yet the Heat's defensive unity is woefully inadequate, with a sense of 'I'll let someone else handle it' prevailing. The only silver lining, according to Winderman, is Giannis Antetokounmpo, who averages 30 points per game on offense—a stark contrast to Adebayo's promising training camp performance and the team's strong cultural foundation. Presently, however, there's a pervasive attitude of passivity, leaving teammates to face challenges alone.
